Ahuwhenua - Tairawhiti Farm Cadets

Our programmes provide hands on farming skills and knowledge to prepare aspiring farmers for a successful long term career in the industry. They are ideal for those looking to enter the industry or build on existing experience in the farming industry.

Free hostel accommodation is available for our level 3 farm cadets at our Ruapani training station in Tiniroto and travel is provided to other training venues. All programmes are also available in Hawke’s Bay.

Ngahere - Forestry

We offer a range of forest qualifications across the industry sectors from entry level 2 foundation skills, level 3 forestry harvesting and forestry operations certificates to the diploma in forest management level 6 with a high percentage of learning taking place in the industry.

Applicants need to be prepared to be drug free and maintain a high level of fitness. Transport is provided.

Opportunities abound in this busy industry repairing and building roads throughout Tairāwhiti. Level 2 content includes health and safety and the environment, instructions and procedures, manual excavation, plant and equipment and small machinery.  Level 3 covers health and safety at work, environmental and quality standards and a choice of two  infrastructure machine operations. 

Te Reo o Turanga

Whether you are a beginner or have some level of competency these programmes will help you to extend your ability to speak conversational Reo Māori and your understanding of tikanga ā-iwi.

Career pathways include teaching, Māori media, tourism, researching, social, health services and much more.

 

Te Ara Taiohi - Youth Guarantee

To be eligible you need to be 15½ (with a school exemption) to 24 years of age. All programmes offer national or New Zealand certificate, transport is provided and you can join at any time. All programmes are also available in Hawke’s Bay.

 

ACE – Adult Community Education – Short Courses

Courses can be 2-10 hours a week over time or extended wānanga
